Texas pizza
Ingredients/Components
- all-purpose flour
- yellow cornmeal - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- cold water - 1/4 c
- lean ground beef - 1/2 lb
- jar chopped and drained pimento - 1 oz
- can chopped green chilies - 1 oz
- chopped onion flakes - 3 Tbsp
- chili powder - 1 Tbsp
- basil - 1/2 tsp
- black pepper - 1/4 tsp
- cayenne pepper red - 1/8 tsp
- garlic powder - 1/8 tsp
- shredded Cheddar cheese - 1 c
- can pizza sauce - 1 item
How to make texas pizza:
Combine flour, cornmeal and 1/2 teaspoon salt in mixing bowl. Cut in shortening thoroughly. Sprinkle in water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing with fork until all flour is moist. Form dough into ball and press out on a pizza pan; chill for 1 hour.Brown ground beef in skillet; drain fat out of skillet. Add pimento, green chilies, onion flakes, chili powder, basil, black pepper, cayenne, garlic powder and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
Pour pizza sauce over crust and put ground beef mixture evenly on top. Cover with the cheese. Bake at 400° for 35 minutes or until crust is done. Serve warm.
