Ingredients/Components
- vegetable oil - 2 Tbsp
- chili powder - 1 tsp
- grated Cheddar cheese - 3/4 c
- salt to taste - 1 item
- lean ground beef
- onion - 1 item
- stalks celery, chopped - 4 item
- cooked rice
- can tomatoes - 16 oz
- small green pepper, chopped - 1 item
How to make texas hash:
Saute the onion, celery and green pepper in the oil until just tender. Add the meat and cook until it loses its color. Add the chili powder and tomatoes. Cook 10 minutes over medium heat. Stir in the rice and salt; warm through. Place contents in a baking dish in layers alternating mixture and cheese.
