Tasty applesauce pie
Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 4 item
- granulated sugar - 1/4 c
- butter - 1/4 c
- firmly packed dark brown sugar - 1 c
- dash of salt - 1 item
- golden raisins - 1 c
- unbaked 10-inch pie shell
- or 1 jar 15 oz - 1 can
- buttermilk biscuit mix Bisquick - 3/4 c
How to make tasty applesauce pie:
In a 2-quart saucepan, turn the applesauce and brown sugar. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes; removed from heat. Add 1/4 cup butter and the salt; stir until butter is melted. Stir in raisins. Cool to room temperature. In a small mixing bowl, beat the eggs well; add to cooled applesauce mixture and blend well. Pour into pie shell. Bake in a preheated 375° oven on rack below center, for 20 minutes.Meanwhile, in a medium mixing bowl, stir together the biscuit mix and granulated sugar. With a pastry blender, cut in the 2 tablespoons butter until the size of small peas. After pie has baked for 20 minutes, sprinkle the biscuit mix mixture evenly over top and continue baking in the 375° oven until crust and top are golden brown (25 more minutes, more or less). Place pan on wire rack to cool before cutting.
