Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • water - 1 c
  • vegetable oil - 2 Tbsp
  • all-purpose flour - 3 Tbsp
  • dry mustard - 1 tsp
  • cloves garlic, finely chopped - 2 item
  • large onion, sliced - 1 item
  • large green pepper, sliced - 1 item
  • can whole tomatoes, undrained - 1 oz
  • beef boneless round tip or chuck steak

How to make swiss steak:

Mix flour, mustard and salt. Sprinkle one side of beef steak with half the mixture. Pound in. Repeat on other side. Cut beef into 6 pieces. Heat oil in 10-inch skillet. Cook beef over medium heat until brown. Add tomatoes and garlic. Break up tomatoes. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cover. Simmer until beef is tender (approximately 1 1/4 hours).

Add water, onion and green pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer until vegetables are tender (approximately 5 to 8 minutes).
