Ingredients/Components

  • ground beef
  • pork sausage - 1/4 lb
  • can milk - 2/3 item
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • saltine cracker crumbs - 2/3 c
  • seasoned salt - 1 tsp
  • can pineapple chunks
  • cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
  • white vinegar - 1/4 c
  • brown sugar - 1/4 c
  • soy sauce - 2 Tbsp
  • chopped green bell pepper - 1 c

How to make sweet and sour meatballs:

Sweet and Sour Sauce:13 1/2 oz. can pineapple chunks2 Tbsp. cornstarch1/4 c. white vinegar1/4 c. brown sugar2 Tbsp. soy sauce1 c. chopped green bell pepper Mix ground beef, pork sausage, canned milk, onion, cracker crumbs and season salt together until pork sausage is completely mixed in. Roll mixture into small balls and brown in small amount of oil in large frying pan. Pour off fat. While meatballs are browning, drain pineapple syrup into a measuring cup and add enough water to make 1 cup of liquid (set pineapple aside). Mix this liquid mixture with cornstarch, vinegar, brown sugar and soy sauce and put into a 2-quart saucepan. Heat mixture until thick and clear. Add pineapple and green peppers. After you have drained fat from meatballs, add sweet and sour mixture to the meatballs. Cover and simmer over low heat for 15 minutes. (This tastes even better heated up the next day.)
