Swedish meatballs
Ingredients/Components
- ground beef - 1 lb
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- milk - 2/3 c
- onion, grated - 1 item
- bread crumbs - 1 item
- allspice - 1/8 tsp
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- brown sugar - 1 Tbsp
- pepper and salt - 1 item
- flour - 1 item
- shortening - 1/4 c
- bouillon - 1 c
- water - 1/3 c
How to make swedish meatballs:
Combine first 8 ingredients; add 1 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Mix thoroughly. Shape into balls about 1 1/2 inches in diameter and roll in flour. Fry in melted shortening until browned on all sides. Remove from pan. Pour bouillon into pan. Mix 2 tablespoons of flour and water to a smooth paste and add, stirring until thickened. Season with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper. Add meatballs and simmer 20 minutes. Serve hot over buttered noodles or alone.Recipe categories: Appetizers, Ground beef, Beef.
