Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 3/4 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour
  • water
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • margarine - 4 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • chopped onion - 3 Tbsp
  • soft bread crumbs
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • can consomme or 2 bouillon cubes and water - 1 1/2

How to make swedish meatballs:

Soften crumbs in milk; saute onions in 1/2 butter. Add to crumbs. Add beef, seasonings and egg. Form into 1-inch balls. Saute in remaining butter for 10 minutes. Add consomme, simmer covered for 5 minutes. Remove meat to serving dish. Blend flour and water and thicken liquid. Pour over meat and serve.
