Swedish meatballs
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- water - 2 c
- nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 2 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- ground beef - 1 lb
- dry bread crumbs - 3/4 c
- beef bouillon cubes - 2 item
- ground pork - 1/2 lb
- dash of allspice - 1 item
How to make swedish meatballs:
Combine beef, pork, onion, bread crumbs, milk, salt, pepper, nutmeg, allspice and egg in a large bowl. Blend well. Shape into balls, about 1-inch. Brown on all sides in shortening in skillet. Remove meatballs.Stir flour into drippings and cook until flour browns. Add water and bouillon cubes. Cook, stirring constantly, until boiling. Reduce heat. Add meatballs. Cover and simmer 15 to 20 minutes.
