Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 1/2 c
  • salt
  • flour
  • butter - 4 Tbsp
  • egg, slightly beaten - 1 item
  • water
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • ginger - 1/4 tsp
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • soft bread crumbs
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • onion, chopped fine - 3 Tbsp
  • can beef consomme - 1 item

How to make swedish meatballs:

Soften bread crumbs in milk. Cook onion in half of the butter for 5 minutes. Add to bread crumbs. Add beef, spices and egg. Mix well and form into 1-inch meatballs. Saute in remaining butter in a skillet for about 10 minutes. Blend flour and water to thicken consomme. Add consomme and bake slowly for about 1 hour in 325° oven.
