Swedish meatballs
Ingredients/Components
- sour cream - 1 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- butter - 3 Tbsp
- water
- nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
- ginger - 1/8 tsp
- instant coffee - 1/2 tsp
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- chopped onion - 1/2 c
- soft bread crumbs
- beef bouillon - 1 tsp
- egg beaten - 1 item
- ground beef or use 1/2 beef and 1/2 pork
How to make swedish meatballs:
Cook onion in 1 tablespoon until tender. Combine egg and sour cream. Stir in cooked onion, bread crumbs, parsley, salt, pepper, nutmeg and ginger. Add meat. Mix well by hand. Shape into 3/4 inch balls. In large skillet brown balls in remaining butter. Remove from skillet. Stir in flour, bouillon graduals, and coffee crystals into pan juices. Add water. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Add meat balls and occasionally baste while simmering for 30 minutes in covered pan.Makes 60 appetizer meatballs.
