  • sugar - 2 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • beaten eggs - 2 item

How to make sugar cookies:

Cream together sugar, shortening, beaten eggs and vanilla. Add soda (put into buttermilk) and salt. Sift together flour and baking powder. Add to mixture. Mix well. Dough will be soft. Add enough flour that it doesn't stick when rolled. Cut in desired shapes with cookie cutters. Bake at 350° for approximately 10 minutes. Makes 7 dozen.
