Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- flour - 4 5
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- almond extract - 1 tsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 1 c
- colored sugar - 1 item
How to make sugar cookies:
Cream together sugar and shortening. Beat in eggs. Sift together all dry ingredients. Stir in the extract and vanilla into the creamed mixture. Alternately stir in the dry ingredients and the buttermilk. Knead dough until smooth. Roll out dough to 1/8 inch thickness on floured surface. Cut into shapes. Sprinkle with colored sugar.
