Scalloped potatoes
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 3 c
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- flour - 1/3 c
- butter - 1/3 c
- dry mustard - 1/4 tsp
- paprika - 1/4 tsp
- grated Cheddar cheese
- minced onion - 1/2 c
- thinly sliced potatoes - 10 c
How to make scalloped potatoes:
Melt butter or margarine in medium saucepan. Add onion; saute until soft. Stir in flour; cook over low heat one minute. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly. Cook over medium heat until slightly thickened and beginning to boil. Add 1 cup cheese, salt and mustard. Remove from heat; stir until cheese is melted. Arrange 1/2 of potatoes in 13 x 9-inch greased dish. Pour 1/2 sauce over potatoes in dish. Arrange remaining potato slices in dish and pour on remaining sauce. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour or until potatoes are fork-tender. Uncover; sprinkle remaining 1 1/2 cups cheese and paprika. Continue baking until cheese is melted.
