Salisbury steak
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- water - 3 Tbsp
- egg white - 1 item
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- sliced fresh mushrooms
- finely chopped onion - 1 c
- ground round
- low-sodium Worcestershire sauce - 2 Tbsp
- cooked long grain rice, cooked without salt or fat - 1/2 c
- cans no-salt-added beef broth - 2 oz
How to make salisbury steak:
Combine first 5 ingredients in a bowl; stir well. Divide mixture into 6 equal portions; shape each portion into a 1-inch thick patty.Coat an electric skillet with vegetable cooking spray; heat to 320°. Add patties and cook 3 minutes on each side or until browned. Drain on paper towels; set aside and keep warm. Wipe drippings from skillet with paper towels.
Coat skillet with cooking spray; heat to 420°. Add mushrooms; saute 3 minutes. Add broth, salt and Worcestershire sauce. Cook an additional 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Return patties to skillet. Cover. Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes. Transfer patties to a serving platter and keep warm.
Combine cornstarch and water; add to broth mixture, stirring well. Bring to a boil; cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Spoon sauce evenly over patties. Yields 6 servings.
