Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 1 Tbsp
  • egg, slightly beaten - 1 item
  • water - 1/4 c
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
  • fine dry bread crumbs - 1/2 c
  • ketchup - 1/4 c
  • prepared mustard - 1/2 tsp
  • dash of pepper - 1 item
  • ground beef
  • can condensed onion soup - 1 1/2

How to make salisbury steak:

Mix thoroughly 1/3 cup soup, beef, bread crumbs, egg, salt and pepper. Shape into 6 oval patties. In skillet, brown patties (use shortening if necessary); pour off fat. Add remaining soup, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and mustard.

Gradually blend water into flour until smooth. Stir into soup mixture. Cover; cook over low heat 20 minutes or until done. Stir occasionally. Makes 6 servings.
