Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- flour - 2 c
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 2 c
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- corn syrup - 1 Tbsp
- allspice - 1 tsp
- salad oil - 1 c
- prunes, cooked, seeded and chopped - 1 c
- Sift flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice together
How to make prune cake:
Blend sugar, oil and eggs. Sift flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice together. Add alternately with buttermilk to the egg mixture. Add vanilla, nuts and prunes. Mix well and pour into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch dish which has been greased with butter. Bake at 300° in preheated oven for 1 hour.Buttermilk Icing for Prune Cake:1 c. sugar1/2 tsp. vanilla1 Tbsp. corn syrup1/2 c. buttermilk1/2 tsp. baking soda Mix in a large saucepan.
