Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1 c
- flour - 2 c
- butter - 1/4 c
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- allspice - 1 tsp
- Karo syrup - 1 Tbsp
- Wesson oil - 1 c
- pitted dates or small pkg
- Cream Wesson oil with sugar
How to make date cake:
Sift all dry ingredients together. Cream Wesson oil with sugar. Add vanilla. Beat eggs and add all dry ingredients and buttermilk. Mix well. Add dates and nuts. Bake in 9 x 13-inch pan at 300° for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and stick toothpick all over to make holes. Cover with glazed frosting.Frosting:1 c. sugar1/2 c. buttermilk1/2 tsp. soda1/2 tsp. vanilla1 Tbsp.
