  • sugar
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • flour - 2 c
  • butter - 1/4 c
  • nutmeg - 1 tsp
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • allspice - 1 tsp
  • Karo syrup - 1 Tbsp
  • Wesson oil - 1 c
  • pitted dates or small pkg
  • Cream Wesson oil with sugar

How to make date cake:

Sift all dry ingredients together. Cream Wesson oil with sugar. Add vanilla. Beat eggs and add all dry ingredients and buttermilk. Mix well. Add dates and nuts. Bake in 9 x 13-inch pan at 300° for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and stick toothpick all over to make holes. Cover with glazed frosting.Frosting:1 c. sugar1/2 c. buttermilk1/2 tsp. soda1/2 tsp. vanilla1 Tbsp. Karo syrup1/4 c. butter Cook 5 minutes and pour over cake.
