Pepper steak
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 tsp
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- water - 1 c
- Crisco - 1/4 c
- ground ginger - 1/4 tsp
- garlic powder - 1/2 tsp
- soy sauce - 3 Tbsp
- medium green peppers, cut into 3/4-inch strips - 2 item
- 1/2 top round or sirloin steak - 1 item
- medium onion, cut into 1/2-inch slices - 1 item
How to make pepper steak:
Cut meat into 2 x 1/4-inch strips. Heat oil in a large skillet. Cook meat in oil, turning frequently, until brown, about 5 minutes.Stir in water, onion, garlic, ginger and salt. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 15 minutes. Add green pepper strips during last 5 minutes.
Mix cornstarch, sugar and soy sauce; stir into meat mixture. Cook and stir until mixture thickens. Reduce temperature to low and cook, while stirring, for about 5 minutes. Serve over rice.
