Pepper steak
Ingredients/Components
- beef round or sirloin tip, cut into 2 x 1/4-inch strips - 2 lb
- butter 1 stick - 1/2 c
- onion, chopped - 1/2 c
- green peppers, cut into strips - 2 item
- can tomatoes - 1 lb
- beef bouillon cube - 1 item
- cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
- water - 1/4 c
- soy sauce - 3 Tbsp
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- sprinkle of garlic powder - 1 item
How to make pepper steak:
Add beef to melted butter in a skillet, sprinkle with garlic powder and cook, stirring slightly, until browned. Remove meat; add onion and green pepper. Saute for 2 minutes. Return meat to skillet along with tomatoes and bouillon cube, simmer about 5 minutes. Blend together cornstarch, water, soy sauce, sugar and salt. Stir into meat mixture and cook just until thickened. Serve with mashed potatoes or rice.Recipe categories: Main dish, Meat, Beef.
