Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • butter - 1/2 c
  • cornstarch - 1 tsp
  • water - 1/4 c
  • garlic powder - 1/8 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • soy sauce - 3 Tbsp
  • can mushrooms - 1 oz
  • can tomatoes - 1 oz
  • beef bouillon cube - 1 item
  • green peppers, cut into strips - 2 item
  • rice or chow mein noodles - 1 item
  • beef, sliced thin and cut into 2 x 1/8-inch strips - 2 lb

How to make pepper steak:

Fry beef in the butter and sprinkle with garlic powder. Cook, stirring slightly, until browned. Remove meat from pan. Add onion and green pepper. Saute about 2 minutes. Return meat to skillet along with tomatoes and bouillon cube. Simmer about 5 minutes. Blend together the next 5 ingredients. Stir into the meat mixture and simmer until tender, stirring once in awhile. Add drained mushrooms a few minutes before serving. Serve with hot rice and/or chow mein noodles.
