  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • brown sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • cornstarch - 2 tsp
  • vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • dry mustard - 1/4 tsp
  • small onion - 1 item
  • strips bacon - 4 item
  • can green beans - 1 lb

How to make pennsylvania dutch green beans:

Fry bacon. Remove bacon and crumble. Drain all but 1 tablespoon bacon drippings. Add onion and brown lightly. Stir in cornstarch, salt and dry mustard. Drain beans reserving 1/2 cup liquid. Stir reserved liquid into skillet. Cook, stirring until mixture boils. Blend in vinegar and brown sugar. Add green beans and heat thoroughly. Turn into serving dish and garnish with sliced hard-boiled egg and crumbled bacon. Serves 4.
