  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • brown sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • cornstarch - 2 tsp
  • vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • dry mustard - 1/4 tsp
  • small onion - 1 item
  • can green beans - 1 lb
  • can water chestnuts - 1 oz
  • strips bacon, fried and crumbled - 3 item

How to make pennsylvania dutch green beans:

Fry bacon; reserve fat. Brown onion and water chestnuts in hot bacon fat. Drain green beans (save 1/2 cup liquid); mix with remaining ingredients and add to onion in skillet. Cook, stirring until boiling. Add green beans to rest of ingredients and heat. Garnish with crumbled bacon.
