Pecan cream pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 3 Tbsp
- egg yolks - 3 item
- cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
- Meringue:3 egg whites
- coarsely chopped pecans - 3/4 c
- cooked pie shell - 1 item
- butter oleo - 2 Tbsp
How to make pecan cream pie:
Meringue:3 egg whites6 Tbsp. sugar1/4 tsp. cream of tartar Beat egg yolks into milk in saucepan. Add first 3 ingredients and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in butter. Cool and add nuts. Pour into pie shell. Mix meringue by beating egg whites, gradually adding sugar and cream of tartar until stiff. Top mixture, sealing edges. Bake at 350° until peaks start to brown. Cool slowly.This recipe was given to me by my husband's Aunt Stella saying, "This is a family recipe you must learn. You'll never see it in a book and I haven't, unless I put it there!"
