Ingredients/Components
- butter - 1/2 c
- sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 2 item
- flour - 2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
- buttermilk - 1/4 c
- peeled, chopped pears - 1 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
How to make pear bread:
Cream the butter gradually, then beat in sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time. Combine dry ingredients. Add to egg mixture alternately with buttermilk. Stir in pears and vanilla. Pour into buttered 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 1 hour.I make this fat-free by substituting 1/2 cup of applesauce for the butter and Egg Beaters for the eggs.
