Peanut brittle
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- water - 1/2 c
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- light corn syrup - 1/2 c
- unsalted peanuts - 1 c
How to make peanut brittle:
In a medium heavy saucepan, combine sugar, water and syrup. Cook, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, to hard crack stage or until mixture reaches 285° on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat. Add peanuts and baking soda; beat for 3 minutes. Immediately pour mixture into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Let cool completely in pan. Break into pieces in pan. Makes 1 1/4 pounds.Recipe categories: Desserts, Fruit, Candy.
