Ingredients/Components

  • cloves - 1/4 tsp
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • garlic salt - 1/2 tsp
  • medium onion - 1 item
  • carrots - 1 lb
  • stalks celery - 3 item
  • medium potatoes - 4 item
  • chili pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • ham end - 2 lb
  • bag dried split peas - 1 item

How to make pea soup:

Soak beans 4 hours or overnight. Discard water. Dice potatoes (skin on), celery, carrots and onion. Add ham. Put in 6-quart pot. Cover ingredients with water. Simmer 4 hour. Remove ham. Remove fat and bone. Cut ham into bite-size pieces. Return to soup. To thin, cook longer. To thicken, add water. Serve with toasted bagels.
