Ingredients/Components
- cloves - 1/4 tsp
- pepper - 1/2 tsp
- garlic salt - 1/2 tsp
- medium onion - 1 item
- carrots - 1 lb
- stalks celery - 3 item
- medium potatoes - 4 item
- chili pepper - 1/8 tsp
- ham end - 2 lb
- bag dried split peas - 1 item
How to make pea soup:
Soak beans 4 hours or overnight. Discard water. Dice potatoes (skin on), celery, carrots and onion. Add ham. Put in 6-quart pot. Cover ingredients with water. Simmer 4 hour. Remove ham. Remove fat and bone. Cut ham into bite-size pieces. Return to soup. To thin, cook longer. To thicken, add water. Serve with toasted bagels.Recipe categories: Weeknight, Vegetables, Soups & stews.
