- salt - 1/2 tsp
- brown sugar - 1 lb
- butter - 3 Tbsp
- sweet potatoes - 1 item
How to make sweet potatoes:
Peel and quarter lengthwise or slice thick. Cook about 20 minutes in lightly salted water until slightly tender. Make syrup of butter, brown sugar, dash of salt and pepper and 1/2 cup of cooking water. Coat potatoes with syrup and continue cooking.Alternate: Prepare potatoes and syrup the day before. Put in greased, covered baking dish. Refrigerate for 45 minutes before using. Put in 325° oven to candy and finish cooking, about 30 to 45 minutes, or reheat on stove top.
