  • sugar - 3/4 c
  • pkg - 2 1/2
  • milk - 3 c
  • can crushed pineapple - 1 oz
  • Cool Whip - 1 item
  • yellow cake mix - 1 pkg
  • flaked coconut, toasted - 3/4 c

How to make paul newman cake:

In a 13 x 9-inch pan, bake cake according to package directions. Meanwhile, in medium saucepan, combine pineapple and 3/4 cup sugar. Cook over medium heat until thick and syrupy (20 minutes). When cake is done, remove from oven and pierce with fork at 1-inch intervals. Pour on pineapple mixture and spread over cake; cool completely. Mix the pudding mix and milk; spread over cooled cake. Spread Cool Whip over pudding and sprinkle coconut on top. May garnish top with Thank You Brand cherry pie filling, leaving off coconut.
