Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla - 2 tsp
  • flour - 4 c
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • pinch of salt - 1 item
  • Crisco - 1/2 c
  • margarine - 1/2 c
  • soda in 1/4 c - 1 tsp

How to make old fashioned sugar cookies:

Cream sugar, butter and then add eggs. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside. Add baking soda to water and stir. Alternately add dry ingredients and liquid ingredients, soda water, vanilla and buttermilk until well mixed. Drop by heaping teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for about 10 minutes in center of oven.
