Old-fashioned gingerbread
Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- flour
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- ginger - 1 tsp
- hot water - 3/4 c
- dark molasses Brer Rabbit - 1/2 c
- shortening Crisco or lard - 1/2 c
How to make old-fashioned gingerbread:
Mix the first 4 ingredients well. Then mix dry ingredients with first mixture. Do not beat too long. Last add hot water and mix well. Put into small 8 x 8-inch pan. Bake at 350° for approximately 35 minutes or until done.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, Lunch/snacks.
