  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 3/4 tsp

  • brown sugar
  • nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
  • cold water
  • soda
  • baking soda
  • boiling water - 2/3 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 3/4 c
  • molasses - 1/2 c
  • ginger - 1/8 tsp
  • Crisco - 2 Tbsp
  • light corn syrup - 1/4 c
  • hot water
  • ground cloves - 1/8 tsp
  • egg yolk - 1 item
  • dark Karo syrup
  • plus 3 Tbsp - 3/4 c
  • Juice:1 1/2 c

How to make shoo-fly pie:

Mix into crumb mixture.Juice:1 1/2 c. brown sugar3/4 tsp. salt1 egg1 1/2 c. dark Karo syrup1 1/2 c. cold water Crumbs:4 1/2 c. flour1 2/ c. brown sugar3/4 c. shortening1 tsp. salt3/4 c. plus 3 Tbsp. flour1/8 tsp. nutmeg1/8 tsp. ground cloves1/8 tsp. ginger1/2 tsp. cinnamon1/4 tsp. salt2 Tbsp. Crisco1/2 c. brown sugar2/3 c. boiling water1 1/2 tsp. baking soda1 egg yolk1/2 c. molasses Blend flour, spices, salt, Crisco and brown sugar until it resembles cornmeal. In medium size bowl, pour boiling water and soda, then stir in egg yolk and molasses. Put unbaked pie shell in deep dish. Add 1/3 of the dry ingredients, then 1/3 of the liquid ingredients, 1/3 dry ingredients, then 1/3 liquid, 1/3 dry, 1/3 liquid. Mix together. Bake 10 minutes at 450° and 20 minutes at 350°. Best if baked the day before!
