Oatmeal bread
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 2 tsp
- flour - 5 6
- boiling water
- margarine - 2 Tbsp
- oatmeal - 1 c
- warm water - 1/4 c
- dry yeast - 1 pkg
- dark Karo corn syrup - 1/2 c
How to make oatmeal bread:
Put oatmeal and margarine in a large bowl. Pour boiling water over this mixture until the margarine is melted. Stir in corn syrup and salt.Dissolve yeast in warm water and stir into first mixture. Add flour until forms stiff dough. Turn dough onto floured surface and knead until smooth. Place in greased bowl. Cover and let rise. Punch dough down and divide in 2 parts. Shape into loaves. Place in greased bread pans and let rise. Bake at 350° for about 50 minutes (loaves sound hollow when tapped). Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Turn out and cool on rack. Makes 2 loaves.
