New orleans shrimp
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- butter - 3 Tbsp
- chopped onion - 1 c
- cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
- bay leaf - 1 item
- can tomato sauce - 1 oz
- basil - 1/2 tsp
- coarsely chopped celery - 1 c
- chopped green bell pepper - 1 c
- cayenne pepper - 1/8 tsp
- thyme - 1 tsp
- sliced okra
- shrimp, peeled and deveined - 1 lb
- egg noodles - 8 oz
- can whole tomatoes, drained - 1 oz
How to make new orleans shrimp:
Saute onions, green pepper, celery and garlic in butter in large skillet until almost tender. Stir in bay leaf, salt, thyme, basil and cayenne pepper. Chop tomatoes. Add to skillet. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add tomato sauce and okra. Simmer, covered, for 10 minutes. Remove bay leaf; add shrimp. Bring to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes or just until shrimp turn pink. Cook noodles using package directions. Drain. Serve sauce over noodles. Yields 4 to 6 servings.Recipe categories: Main dish, Shellfish, Shrimp.
