  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • eggs - 2 item
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 3 c
  • butter - 1/2 Tbsp
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • soda - 2 tsp
  • molasses - 2/3 c
  • ginger - 1/2 tsp
  • cream of tartar - 1 tsp
  • sour milk - 1 c

How to make molasses doughnuts:

Beat eggs. Add molasses, sugar and butter. Sift dry ingredients and alternate with the milk. Add flour, enough to make a soft dough that handles easily. Roll out on floured board to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut with doughnut cutter and fry in fat at 350° to 375°.
