Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • bread crumbs - 1/3 c
  • elbow macaroni - 2 c
  • cheese American or Colby - 1/2 lb

How to make macaroni and cheese:

Cook macaroni according to directions. Drain. Arrange in shallow, buttered baking dish. Melt butter in saucepan; blend in flour and stir in milk slowly. Bring to a boil (do not burn). Add salt and pepper and half cheese (diced). Stir until melted. Scatter other half of cheese over macaroni. Pour sauce over all. Sprinkle crumbs over top. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
