Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • bread crumbs - 1/3 c
  • elbow macaroni - 2 c
  • American or Colby cheese - 1/2 lb

How to make macaroni and cheese:

Cook macaroni according to directions. Drain. Arrange in shallow, buttered baking dish. Melt butter in saucepan, blend in flour and stir in milk slowly,. Bring to a boil (do not burn). Add salt and pepper and 1/2 cheese, diced. Stir until melted. Scatter other half of cheese over macaroni. Pour sauce over all. Sprinkle crumbs over top. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
