Lemon meringue pie
Ingredients/Components
- plus 2 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 7 Tbsp
- eggs, separated - 3 item
- fresh lemon juice
- 9-inch baked pie shell - 1 item
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- water
- butter - 3 Tbsp
- grated lemon juice - 2 Tbsp
- cream of tartar - 1/4 tsp
How to make lemon meringue pie:
Mix 1 1/2 cups sugar, cornstarch and water. Boil for 6 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in slightly beaten egg yolks. Return to low heat; cook for 6 minutes. Add butter, lemon juice and grated peel; stir only until well blended. Pour into pie shell. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff; add remaining sugar and vanilla. Beat until firm peaks form; spread over lemon filling. Bake at 325° to 350° until meringue is lightly browned.Recipe categories: Pie, Pies and tarts, Cakes.
