Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/4 c
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • grated Parmesan cheese - 1 c
  • cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
  • parsley flakes - 1/4 c
  • ground beef - 2 lb
  • cans tomato sauce - 2 oz
  • basil leaves - 2 tsp
  • cans tomatoes - 2 item
  • medium onions, chopped - 3 item
  • creamed cottage cheese - 6 c
  • oregano leaves - 2 tsp
  • each pkg - 3 oz
  • lean ground pork - 3/4 lb
  • 1/2 Mozzarella cheese, shredded - 1 item

How to make lasagne:

Cook and stir ground beef, pork, onion and garlic in Dutch oven until meat is brown and onions tender. Drain off fat. Add tomato and break up with fork. Stir in tomato sauce, 1/4 cup parsley flakes, sugar, 2 teaspoons salt and basil. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered about 1 hour or until mixture is like spaghetti sauce.

Heat oven to 350°. Mix cottage cheese, 1 cup Parmesan cheese, 2 tablespoons parsley flakes, 1 tablespoon salt and oregano leaves. Reserve 1 cup meat sauce for thin top layer. In each of two ungreased baking pans, 13 x 9 x 2-inches, layer 1/4 each of the noodles, remaining meat sauce, Mozzarella cheese and cottage cheese mixture. Repeat. Spread reserved meat sauce over top. Sprinkle each pan with 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese. Bake uncovered 45 minutes. For easier cutting, let stand 15 minutes.
