  • cornmeal - 2 c
  • flour - 1 Tbsp
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • beaten egg - 1 item
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • chopped onion - 6 Tbsp

How to make hush puppies:

Mix all dry ingredients together. Add milk and onion to egg. Add to dry mixture. Batter should be thick enough to drop by spoonfuls into hot oil. Fry until nicely brown. Drain. Serve piping hot. Makes around 25.
