Ingredients/Components
- medium head cabbage - 1 item
- sugar - 3/4 c
- medium onions - 2 item
- Slice onions in rings
- salt
- dry mustard - 1 tsp
- vinegar - 1 c
- salad oil - 1 c
How to make 24 hour slaw:
Slice cabbage; stir in sugar. Slice onions in rings. Place 1/2 of cabbage in bottom of dish. Cover with onion rings. Top with remaining cabbage. Set aside.Dressing:1 tsp. celery seed1 c. sugar1 1/2 tsp. salt1 tsp. dry mustard1 c. vinegar1 c. salad oil Bring to a boil the vinegar, sugar, salt, celery seed and dry mustard. Stir in salad oil and bring to a rolling boil again. Pour slowly over cabbage. Do not stir! Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours.Recipe categories: American, Salads, Southern u.s..
