Ingredients/Components

  • salt
  • paprika - 2 tsp
  • pepper to taste - 1 item
  • beef broth - 2 c
  • sour cream optional - 1/2 c
  • bacon strips, diced - 3 item
  • dash of sugar - 1 item
  • medium onions, minced - 2 item
  • small green peppers, chopped - 2 item
  • cubed beef stew meat
  • large potatoes, peeled and diced - 2 item
  • can stewed chopped tomatoes - 1 item

How to make hungarian goulash soup:

In large kettle, cook bacon until almost crisp. Add green pepper, onion and garlic. Cook until tender. Add beef cubes and brown on all sides. Sprinkle with paprika, salt and pepper. Add sugar. Stir and cook for 2 minutes. Add tomatoes and broth. Cover and simmer for about 1 1/2 hours or until beef is tender. One half hour before serving, add potatoes. Cook until tender. Garnish each serving with a dollop of sour cream. Serves 8.
