Hot sausage and cheese puffs
Ingredients/Components
- water - 3/4 c
- sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded - 1 lb
- biscuit baking mix - 3 c
- Italian sausage hot or sweet, removed from casing - 1 lb
How to make hot sausage and cheese puffs:
Cook sausage in large skillet until no longer pink, breaking up with fork as you cook. (about 8-10 minutes) Drain off fat and spoon sausage into large bowl and cool completely. Add cheese, biscuit mix and water. Mix with a fork until blended. Roll into 1 inch balls and place on a baking sheet 2 inches apart. Bake at 400° for 12-15 minutes, or until puffed and brown. Remove from baking sheet and cool completely. Makes 120 puffs.These can be frozen ahead - just arrange in single layers to freeze, then place in plastic bag when frozen. To reheat: Arrange frozen puffs on large baking sheet and bake at 375° for 10 minutes.
