Carrots au gratin
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1 c
- flour - 2 Tbsp
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- water - 1/2 c
- salt to taste - 1 item
- sliced carrots - 4 c
- can French fried onion rings - 1 1/2
- sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded - 1 c
How to make carrots au gratin:
Boil carrots in salted water for 5 minutes and drain. Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Slowly add flour, stirring constantly. Gradually add milk. Cook until thickened. Add cheese and stir until melted.In a 1 1/2-quart casserole, layer carrots and onions twice, reserving some onions. Pour sauce over all. Bake for 15 minutes in a 350° oven. Top with remaining onions and bake an additional 5 minutes. Yield: 6 to 8 servings.
