Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- salt
- flour - 5 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- warm water - 1/4 c
- dry yeast - 1 cake
- sweet milk - 2 c
How to make hot rolls:
Combine first 3 ingredients in saucepan and bring to a boil. Set aside to cool. Add yeast to 1/4 cup warm water. To the cooled mixture add yeast and 3 cups flour; set aside to rise for 2 hours.When dough has doubled, add 2 cups flour, salt, soda and baking powder; mix well. Place in bowl that has been greased well. Set in refrigerator. This dough will be good for 10 days.
About 1 1/2 hours before cooking time, take out amount you want for cooking. Make into rolls and set to rise. Cook in 400° oven for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
