Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 5 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 2 c
- baking powder - 5 tsp
- shortening - 1 c
- warm water - 2 Tbsp
- dry yeast - 1 pkg
How to make angel biscuits:
Sift dry ingredients together. Add shortening. Dissolve yeast in warm water and add with buttermilk to dry ingredients; mix well. Turn out on floured board; add more flour if necessary and roll 1/4-inch thick. Cut; then dip in melted butter and fold to make pocketbook rolls. Bake at 400° for 15 minutes.I have made into rolls by hand and put onto baking sheet instead of rolling and cutting.
