Hot rolls
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- shortening - 1/4 c
- lukewarm water - 1/4 c
- egg well beaten - 1 item
- milk scalded - 1 c
- cake of yeast - 1 item
How to make hot rolls:
Combine scalded milk, shortening, sugar, and salt. Cool to lukewarm, add yeast softened in lukewarm water. Add beaten egg. Gradually stir in flour to form a soft dough. Beat vigorously. Cover and let rise in warm place till doubled in bulk or about 2 hours. Turn out on lightly floured board. Cut out in desired size, dip in 1/2 butter and 1/2 shortening which has been melted and cooled some. Let rise 1 1/2 hours in roll pans.
