  • sugar - 3 Tbsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 5 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 2 c
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • shortening - 3/4 c
  • warm water - 1/2 c
  • dry yeast - 1 pkg

How to make angel biscuits:

Combine flour, sugar, soda, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening. Dissolve yeast in water (warm). Stir in buttermilk mixture and yeast to dry ingredients. Bake at 400° for 12 minutes. Roll out and cut or just roll. Dough will keep several weeks covered in refrigerator.
