sugar - 1/3 c
salt - 1 tsp
baking soda - 1 tsp
egg - 1 item
sifted flour
soft shortening - 1/3 c
honey - 2/3 c
lemon extract - 1 tsp

How to make honey cookies:

Mix thoroughly the shortening, egg, sugar and honey. Sift together and stir in flour, baking soda, salt and lemon extract. Chill dough.

Roll out 1/4-inch thick, cut into desired shapes. Place 1-inch apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes.

When cool, ice or decorate as desired.
