Ingredients/Components

  • egg - 1 item
  • garlic powder - 1 tsp
  • can tomato soup - 1 item
  • lean ground beef - 1 lb
  • rice - 1/2 c
  • medium head cabbage - 1 item
  • large can tomatoes - 1 item
  • salt and pepper season to taste - 1 item

How to make halupki:

Choose cabbage (not too solid); pare around core and remove core. In large pot, bring water to boil; preboil cabbage. Leaves will fall off; remove leaves as they wilt. Cool leaves; use paring knife to remove thick center ridge. Mix next 5 ingredients together; place heaping tablespoon into center of leaf; roll up. Shred center small leaves of cabbage. In bottom of pot, lay rolled cabbage on shredded cabbage. Next, cover with mixture of tomato soup and tomatoes. Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer for about 1 hour. Serves 4.
