Ingredients/Components
- stew meat
- small cans chopped green chilies - 6 item
- 303 can tomatoes
- large or 2 medium diced onions - 1 item
How to make green chili stew:
Ingredients may be increased or decreased according to taste. Go ahead! Have it your way.Before bed, place stew meat in a greased 4-quart crock-pot. Season heavily with seasoned salt, salt and pepper, garlic salt or powder and about 3 to 4 tablespoons of flour. Toss together and add 1/2 cup of water. Cook 8 hours or so.
In the morning, add onion. Cook 2 to 4 hours, then add green chilies and tomatoes and cook for 2 to 4 hours more. Mash stew with potato masher to break up meat. Serve with canned refried beans (add cheese, salsa and bacon grease), your own Spanish rice and flour tortillas.
Alternatives: Can be cooked on high but not as good tasting. Or meat can be pressure cooked, then put in crock-pot and continue recipe.
